About Regio-S-Bahn

Route Network

The NordWestBahn operates four routes within the “Regio-S-Bahn” network:

RS 1 (Bremen-Farge – Bremen Hbf – Verden)
RS 2 (Bremerhaven-Lehe – Bremen Hbf – Twistringen)
RS 3 (Bremen Hbf – Oldenburg Hbf – Bad Zwischenahn)
RS 4 (Bremen Hbf – Hude – Nordenham)

Tickets & Fare Areas

All stations of the 4 lines of the “Regio-S-Bahn” are in the tariff area “Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen”. When travelling within this region, you can conveniently get your ticket at the ticket vending machines at the train station or in our customer centre at Bremen Hbf (central train station), from our ticket partners along the route or via the “Fahrplaner-App” application.

Your VBN ticket advisor can help you choose the right ticket for your journey. Different tariffs apply for journeys with a start or destination outside the tariff area “Verkehrsverbund Bremen/Niedersachsen”.

For example:

For any journeys by long-distance trains, the tariff of “Deutsche Bahn AG” applies. If you only use local trains in the Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) region, the valid tariff is “Niedersachsentarif”, and if you only travel with local trains throughout Germany the “Deutschlandtarif” is applicable. In order to get the right ticket, simply select your destination on the ticket vending machine at the train station or seek advice from our customer centres or our ticket partners along the route.

"Alcohol ban on trains"

The consumption of alcohol is prohibited on any of our trains in the regions of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) and Bremen. Any violation of this rule will be charged with an additional fee of € 40.

Rules of Transportation

Transport is directly regulated by the “Eisenbahnverkehrsordnung” (EVO), transport regulations of the different fare areas and the Regulation (EC) No. 1371/2007.
