Niederrhein/Ruhr/Münsterland - English
The NordWestBahn operates four routes in the region Niederrhein/Ruhr/Münsterland:
RE 10 „Niers-Express“ (Kleve – Krefeld – Düsseldorf Hbf)
RE 14 „Der Borkener“ (Essen Hbf – Dorsten – Borken)
RB 31 „Der Niederrheiner“ (Xanten – Moers – Duisburg Hbf)
RB 36 „Ruhrort-Bahn“ (Duisburg-Ruhrort – Oberhausen Hbf)
RE 44 „Fossa-Emscher-Express“ (Oberhausen Hbf – Bottrop Hbf)
RB 45 „Der Coesfelder“ (Coesfeld – Dorsten)
The fare regulations set by the WestfalenTarif and VRR transport associations and communities (WestfalenTarif and VRR-Tarif) apply on routes across western Münsterland and the northern Ruhr area, as do any transitional arrangements imposed.
Only the fare regulations set by the Rhine-Ruhr transport association (VRR) apply on routes at the Lower Rhine (Niederrhein) and routes between the Rhine and Ruhr River.
Furthermore, the NRW fare, as well as the associated offers, such as the SchönerTagTicket Single (Great Day Out Ticket, single) or the SchönerTagTicket 5 Personen (Great Day Out Ticket for 5 people) apply on all routes. The same goes for the standard rail fare applicable across Germany, in cooperation with NordWestBahn and DB. This also includes all fares and fare reductions with the BahnCard (rail card). Tickets can be purchased at ticket vending machines located at the train station and from the usual ticket offices.
Your VRR ticket advisor can help you choose the right ticket for your journey.
